The is the first traditional page of my comic that I drew without doing a pencil layout first. I hadn't intended to do it that way, but I'd spent all day botching my first attempt at the page more and more until finally, really late at night, I realized it was unsalvageable, and I'd have to start over from scratch. I had no time to do a usual pencil sketch layout first, and just went straight in with a big black PITT marker, as I'd been somewhat successful doing that (although with a bit of pencil layout first) in a recent sketch
The marker work came out okay, although with a few bloopers; I used Dr. Ph. Martin's "Bleed Proof White" ink to cover them up. BPW isn't waterproof, though, so trying to ink over the white stuff didn't work with the marker; I went in with sumi ink, and ended up getting a lot of ink and marker blending together, so parts of the drawing ended up looking pretty painterly.
Overall though it worked out decently enough, and was pretty fun to do. So I decided to keep making the comic's pages without pencil, and so far it's been going pretty well!
