Cold Gray 2

Was experimenting with shading using a gray marker--this is Faber-Castell's medium "cold gray" big brush marker over black lines done with a Pentel Pocket Brush pen.

It'd be a pretty good combo for sketching on the road, I think. The marker shading does have some drawbacks, though. It isn't very flexible--you can get about two layers with it, if you want to go darker, but past that it starts to scuff up the paper pretty good; I think it does that a little from the get-go, too, since as you can see the gray areas are kind of pebbley. There are lighter and darker "cold gray" Faber-Castell markers, but the light one was so light as to be invisible (I think it was lighter than my paper! : o), and the darker one had an ugly greenish tint.

The other drawback is that where the marker goes over the black ink, it forms a really shiny surface, which probably won't scan too great.

It's still fun to play with, though, and I kinda liked how this face came out.
